Product Details
rockwool ProRox SL stone wool insulation is a slab-type stone wool insulation measuring 0.6 meters wide by 1.2 meters long with thickness ranging from 25 mm – 100 mm. Density ranges from 60 kg/m³ – 128 kg/m³. Can withstand heat up to 650°C
ProRox SL is stone wool insulation in the ProRox series, which is the model used in industrial thermal applications. It has controlled chloride content in the insulation material to prevent corrosion on metal surfaces
Rockwool has a melting temperature above 1,000°C and is classified as a non-combustible material, so there’s no need to fear fire, and it contains no asbestos, so there’s no need to worry about stone wool insulation causing cancer
Dimensions: 0.6 meters wide by 1.2 meters long
Operating Temperature
ProRox SL can be used at temperatures up to 650°C. The hotter the pipe, the thicker the insulation should be to prevent people from touching hot pipes and to reduce heat loss from the pipes
We can calculate the appropriate insulation thickness using the RockAssist Program. You can see how to use the RockAssist program in the article “How to Use RockAssist Program”
Fire Resistance Properties
rockwool stone wool insulation has a melting point greater than 1,000°C and is a Non-Combustible Material, so you don’t need to worry about rockwool stone wool insulation becoming fuel that causes fire spread
Water Penetration in Insulation
In the manufacturing process of rockwool stone wool insulation, there is technology that helps reduce water penetration of the insulation which other types of stone wool insulation do not have. When water drops on rockwool stone wool insulation, the water will roll off without penetrating into the insulation material
Conversely, with other types of stone wool insulation, when exposed to water, water drops will immediately penetrate the insulation material, causing the insulation to lose thermal efficiency, the material to deteriorate and crumble, and service life to decrease, resulting in frequent maintenance requirements
Corrosion
Stone wool insulation in the ProRox series has controlled chloride content in the insulation material to less than 10 ppm (10 parts per million). Chlorides, when combined with moisture and iron, cause “rust”
When pipes wrapped with stone wool insulation develop rust, we cannot detect that the pipe in that area has rusted because the pipe is covered by the stone wool insulation. We will only discover this during major maintenance after 5 years, or when the pipe is completely rusted. This means we cannot replace just the insulation and must replace the steel pipe, which costs much more than the insulation itself
Cancer Risk
Asbestos is a substance that causes cancer in the human body. Sometimes we may confuse the terms “stone wool insulation” and “asbestos” due to translation from English to Thai
We can check cancer-causing substances from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) or follow this link and search for rockwool immediately
Service Life
rockwool stone wool insulation is a material made from volcanic rock with properties of no shrinkage, no movement, no deterioration, and high durability, allowing it to work with systems for a long time
We will perform spot maintenance only in cases such as hot humid weather, rain, and water penetration into the jacket, which reduces system efficiency
