ESKIMO FOIL 101F Double-Sided Aluminum Foil

ESKIMO FOIL 101F is a heat reflective sheet with superior properties to ESKIMO FOIL 350 due to an additional layer of pure aluminum. This type is known as “Double-sided Aluminum Foil,” providing better protection against water, moisture, and heat compared to single-sided foil.

Differences Between Single-Sided and Double-Sided Aluminum Foil

1. “Double Action” Heat Blocking Efficiency

• • Top Side: Acts to reflect radiant heat (Reflectance) from the sun passing through the roof by up to 95-97%
  • Bottom Side: Acts to prevent radiation (Low Emissivity), stopping the small amount of heat that escapes through from radiating down to the ceiling or house (due to very low Emissivity). In contrast, single-sided foil allows heat to radiate downward more easily once it penetrates.

2. Mechanical Strength

• • Double-sided types typically have a stronger structure because foil sheets are laminated to the core from both sides.
  • Result: Much higher resistance to tension and tearing; does not sag easily over time or when exposed to wind during installation.

3. Service Life and Corrosion Protection

• • Surface Protection: The bottom aluminum layer protects the internal plastic and fiber layers from accumulated heat and moisture inside the house.
  • Service Life: Double-sided types typically last over 10-15 years, whereas single-sided types may begin to peel or become brittle sooner due to changing weather conditions.
