SCG glass wool insulation for air duct lining

In large cold air duct systems with galvanized air ducts to distribute cold air to various parts of buildings, cold air flows through the ducts at high velocity, causing wind noise and potential duct vibration due to the relatively high air speed.

Therefore, installing insulation inside air ducts absorbs wind noise that may disturb people outside. Duct lining insulation is installed with the surface material such as perforated foil or glass tissue facing the airflow, as sound is absorbed and dissipated into the glass wool when it hits these materials. The glass wool insulation used has a density of 48 kg/m³ and thickness of 1 inch (25 mm) or 2 inches (50 mm) as specified by the designer.

Installation Guidelines

    1. Areas inside air ducts designed for insulation lining must have insulation installed on all sides of the duct, and joints between sheets must be tightly connected.
    2. Face the surface material toward the airflow in the air conditioning duct. The side attached to the duct must have adhesive applied to no less than 90% of the insulation surface area and install sufficient fastening pins appropriate for the duct size.
