SCG Glass Wool Insulation for Air Conditioning Systems
Duct Insulation Work
Large air conditioning systems consisting of chillers and Air Handling Units (AHU) require galvanized air ducts to distribute cool air to desired points. To maintain air temperature, heat insulation must be installed to prevent cold air leakage. It also provides soundproofing benefits. Typically, glass wool insulation used in air conditioning duct systems has a density of 24 kg/m³, with thickness options of 1 inch (25 mm) or 2 inches (50 mm), depending on requirements and installation space.

Installation Guidelines
- Duct surfaces must be clean, dry, rust-free, oil-free, and leak-free. Test all joints for leaks before insulating.
- Cut insulation to specified size and remove 50 mm of insulation from edges, leaving the facing material flap for overlap at joints.
- Wrap insulation around duct with tight joints, overlap the facing flap, and seal all joints with aluminum foil tape 2.5 inches or wider
- For ducts wider than 24 inches, use fasteners to secure insulation to the duct surface, spacing them no more than 18 inches apart on the bottom side
- Inspect facing material and seal any leaks, scratches, or tears with aluminum foil tape to prevent moisture and vapor accumulation in the insulation
