Product Details

MicroFiber glass wool for duct sound absorption with perforated aluminum foil surface, density 32K – 48K, thickness 25 mm – 50 mm

Saves energy, controls condensation, and absorbs duct noise to prevent disturbance to building occupants

Micro Duct Liner

MicroFiber Micro Duct Liner glass wool insulation is designed for internal duct installation. It reduces air noise within ducts and can operate at temperatures up to 120°C with airflow speeds of 5,000 fpm (25.4 m/s) without erosion, tested according to UL 181 Erosion Test standards.

Maintaining Cool Air in Ducts

Air temperature inside ducts is low at 13-15°C while outside temperature is higher at 25-30°C, causing heat exchange at the duct surface. Therefore, insulation is needed both inside and outside the duct to reduce heat transfer and maintain cool air until distribution.

Condensation Prevention

Condensation is common in air conditioning systems due to temperature differences between cold air inside ducts and warmer air outside. When warm external air contacts the cold duct surface, water droplets form on the duct surface.

DUCT WITH INSULATION

Insulated cooling ducts prevent surface condensation

Similar to a glass containing ice developing condensation on its surface, or when insulated ducts still show condensation due to insufficient insulation thickness, extremely cold internal air, or very hot surrounding temperatures.

Acoustic Properties

The main purpose of Micro Duct Liner insulation is to absorb noise generated within air ducts from high air velocity. The porous nature of glass wool insulation absorbs sound waves upon impact with the insulation surface.

Sound Absorption Coefficients (SAC) indicate the percentage of sound absorbed versus reflected. For example, PFL 3225 at 2000 Hz has SAC = 0.93, meaning 93% absorption and 7% reflection.

SAC

SAC values vary with sound frequency

Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) คือ is the average of SAC values at 250Hz, 500Hz, 1000Hz, and 2000Hz. An NRC of 0.9 means the material absorbs approximately 90% of sound on average.

NRC

NRC is the material’s average total value
